Trempealeau is a village in the county of that name, along the Mississippi River. It rests on high rolling banks at the river’s edge. It i a classic, picturesque river town. Trempealeau is named for the nearby mountain, which French explorers called “la montagne qui trempe à l'eau” meaning “the mountain whose foot is bathed in water.” It is a great place to spend outdoors. The charming and historic trempealeau Hotel is on the Mississippi, one of few survivors of the 1888 fire. The railroad hugging the horse of the river races by every once in a while.
